On Monday, a five-storey building in the Egyptian capital of Cairo collapsed, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 13 people. According to state newspaper Al-Ahram, the building was located in the Hadayek el Kobba neighbourhood, north of central Cairo.

Rescue Workers Search for Survivors

The building was situated in a densely built area of informal housing. Rescue workers searched through the rubble for survivors, hoping to find anyone who may have survived the collapse.

Unfortunately, building collapses are not uncommon in Egypt. Many areas have poor construction standards, which can result in tragic incidents such as this one. It is a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring that buildings are constructed safely and to a high standard.
