Bill Gates

Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, has expressed his belief that the most important technology race to win is the development of the top artificially intelligent agent. This agent has the potential to disrupt search engines, productivity tools and online shopping sites.

Gates stated that with the development of such an agent, there would be no need to visit search sites or even Amazon. He made these comments while speaking at AI Forward 2023, an event in San Francisco hosted by Goldman Sachs Group and SV Angel.

Gates also mentioned that he would be disappointed if Microsoft were not in the running for developing this top AI agent, but he acknowledged that there is a 50% chance that the top player in this field could be a start-up. Amazon, Google, and Microsoft did not immediately respond when asked for comment.

Gates also mentioned that he was impressed by Inflection AI, a company co-founded by entrepreneur Reid Hoffman. Many industry players have been working on building a computer assistant powered by AI that can be commanded by speech or text to handle a range of tasks for consumers. Gates emphasized the importance of winning the race to develop the top personal AI agent.

“Whoever wins the personal agent, that’s a big thing,” Gates said.
