Brighton Ngoma, a renowned South African actor, was born in 1985 in Mpumalanga, South Africa. He has been active in the acting industry since 2007 and is best known for his roles in the television serials Invictus, Who Am I? and Master Harold…and the Boys.

Personal Life

Brighton Ngoma was born in the year 1985 in Bushbuckridge, a town located in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. He is of Xhosa and Swiss heritage. His father, a doctor, and his mother, a nurse, raised him until the age of 5 when his father left. After his father’s departure, Ngoma was raised solely by his mother. Tragically, his mother passed away in 2002 when he was just 17 years old. Following her death, another family fostered his younger brother.

Ngoma lives with a skin condition called Vitiligo, which causes the skin to lose its pigmentation, resulting in discoloured patches. Despite this, he has not let it hinder his career or personal life.

In his personal life, Ngoma is married to fellow actress Tshepi Mashego. The couple is blessed with a son, Leano, who was born in January 2017.

Ngoma began his career as a freelance stage manager before transitioning into acting. He got his start in the popular television serial Scandal as a featured extra. Recognizing his acting ability, the director soon promoted Ngoma to a supporting actor role. After a few months, he was further promoted to the leading role of the character ‘Quinton Nyathi’. The show quickly became one of the most-watched soap operas in South Africa and was also broadcast across Africa on the eAfrica, Botswana, and Ghana channels.


Over the years, Ngoma has played various roles in different genres. Here are some of his notable works:

  • Scandal! (2008-2019): Ngoma played the role of Quinton Nyathi in this TV Series.
  • UBettina Wethu (2021): In this TV Series, Ngoma played the character T-bang.
