Cebolenkosi Mthembu is a multi-talented individual who has made significant contributions to the South African entertainment industry. He is best known for his role as Detective Nyawo in the popular television show, Uzalo. However, his talents extend beyond acting, as he also works as an electrical technician, singer, radio personality, and athlete.

Early Life and Family

Born in Manguzi, Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa, Cebolenkosi Mthembu is one of ten siblings. His family includes seven brothers – Senzo KaMagali Ndamase, Thobani Mthembu, Xolani, Phila Nkala, Gcina Khambule, Ngcebo, Mthembu Zamokuhle – and two sisters – Thule Mhlongo, and Ntando MaMthembu. In January 2021, his father, Raphael, tragically passed away due to COVID-19. Cebolenkosi, who was also infected with the virus at the time, was unable to attend his father’s funeral due to quarantine restrictions.

Education and Career

Cebolenkosi Mthembu is a well-educated individual. He attended Shayina High School before proceeding to the Mangosuthu University of Technology. Between 1995 and 1998, he earned a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

His career is as diverse as his talents. He began as an educator, teaching mathematics to grades 10, 11, and 12 students at Kwa-Ngwanase from 2006 to 2012. He then transitioned into radio, working as a presenter and producer at Maputaland Community Radio from January 2002 to February 2022. He also worked at Imbokodo 96.8 FM, a community radio station. Since August 2012, he has been serving as a clerk of works at Eskom.

In 2015, Cebolenkosi ventured into the acting industry, landing a role on SABC1’s Uzalo drama television show. He has been playing the character of Detective Nyawo for seven years, becoming a fan favorite.

Cebolenkosi Mthembu’s net worth is estimated to be between R25 000 and R30 000, primarily from his acting and radio jobs. He has also earned a significant fortune working at Eskom.

As for his personal life, Cebolenkosi is currently single. He was previously in a relationship with actress Nanamhla Dalasile, which ended due to allegations of threats against his life. Cebolenkosi reported the matter to the police and filed for a protection order against Nanamhla.
