Residents in the Western Cape are preparing for a drop in temperature as a cold front is expected to arrive on Friday. The South African Weather Service has issued a warning that the cold front will be followed by heavy rain on Saturday, which will also affect the Eastern Cape and the western Free State.

Heavy Rain and Localized Flooding

The Weather Service has warned that the heavy rain may cause localized flooding along the south coast of the Cape, particularly in areas such as Riversdale. The rainfall is also expected to impact Calvinia and its surrounding areas in the Northern Cape.

Snowfall in Northern Cape

In addition to the heavy rain, there is also a chance of snowfall in the Northern Cape on Saturday evening. Areas such as Calvinia and the northern parts of the Western Cape are expected to be affected. The snowfall is expected to continue into Sunday morning before clearing up after sunrise.

Eastern Cape and Gauteng

The Eastern Cape is also expected to experience some rain on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, Gauteng is not expected to see any significant changes, although there may be a slight drop in temperature on Sunday.
