Connie Ferguson Biography

Connie Ferguson is one of the most celebrated actresses from South Africa, with close to 30 years of experience in the profession. She is famous for her appearance in Generations, a popular South African soap opera, where she played the role of Karabo Moroka in 1994. In addition to her acting career, Connie has also been recognized for being on the cover of the 2018 Forbes Woman Africa magazine.

Early Life and Education

Connie was born on June 10, 1970, in Kimberley, Northern Cape, South Africa. Although her ancestry is from Botswana, she holds South African nationality. As of this writing, Connie Ferguson’s age is 53 years and her star sign is Gemini.

Connie’s parents are Fish and Margaret Masilo. Sadly, her mother passed away in 2013.

After completing high school, Connie attended the University of KwaZulu-Natal to study law. However, she was unable to complete the course and dropped out in her second year. She then turned to drama and performing arts, where she graduated.


In 1994, Connie landed the role of Karabo Moroka, the wife of Tau Mogale, in the Mzansi soap opera Generations. She played the character for close to 16 years until she announced her departure from the series in 2010. However, she returned four years later to help the series rebrand as Generations: The Legacy and is set to make a comeback in the soap opera in 2023.

In addition to her acting career, Connie is also an entrepreneur. In 2008, she launched her fragrance company called True Self. In 2014, she started a lotion company.

Personal Life

Connie was married to Shona Ferguson, a Motswana actor based in South Africa who was also an executive producer. The pair met in July 2001 and got married in November of the same year. They had a daughter together in 2002. After nearly 20 years of marriage, Shona unfortunately passed away in July 2021 due to Covid-19 complications.


The Mzansi actress has two daughters. Her first daughter Lesedi Matsunyane-Ferguson was born during her first marriage to actor Neo Matsunyane. They had their daughter in 1992 and got married in 1993 but divorced in 1998. Her second daughter Alicia Angel Ferguson was born during her marriage to Shona on June 7th, 2002.

Connie has made a fortune from her career as an actress, entrepreneur, model, investor and executive producer. According to ZAlebs, her net worth in 2023 is estimated at $2 million (R37.1 million).
