DJ Fresh

In the world of Mzansi celebrities, maintaining platonic relationships is becoming increasingly difficult. Every interaction with the opposite gender is quickly interpreted as a romantic relationship. This is particularly true for DJ Fresh, a radio host turned podcaster, who recently found himself at the center of such assumptions.

DJ Fresh’s friendship with Khumo Kgwaadira, a well-known media personality from Botswana, has been the subject of much speculation. The two hosted the Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) awards in December 2023 and spent considerable time together rehearsing for the show. Their shared pictures on social media fueled the rumors, despite DJ Fresh’s clear statement on Instagram that he has found a lifelong friend in Kgwaadira.

The Rumor Mill and DJ Fresh’s Response

The rumor mill didn’t stop churning even after DJ Fresh’s clarification. Musa Khawula, a controversial celebrity gossip blogger, added fuel to the fire by sharing one of the pair’s pictures online. He captioned it, suggesting that Kgwaadira was DJ Fresh’s new girlfriend and that they were vacationing together in Durban.

DJ Fresh Dismisses Rumors About New Girlfriend

While it’s true that both DJ Fresh and Kgwaadira were in Durban and spotted at the same venue – Mojos Car Wash and Shisa Nyama – DJ Fresh vehemently denied the rumors. He responded to Khawula’s post, reiterating that Kgwaadira is a friend, and likely a friend for life, but nothing more.

DJ Fresh’s personal life has been under scrutiny since his divorce from Thabiso Sikwane, his wife of 20 years. Last year, he opened up about being single for the first time in a long time. He was reportedly dating actress Mapaseka Koetle, but both denied the relationship despite being seen together on holiday.

DJ Fresh expressed his fear and excitement about being single, stating, “From the age of 14 till now I’ve been in a relationship all the time. The thing that scares me is, I’ve never had an opportunity not to be in a relationship. The last six weeks for me have been the most exciting, scariest time of my life because I don’t know it. I don’t know not having to account to someone…”
