Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize, a businesswoman and the president of Royal AM, is currently facing tax issues. MaMkhize estranged husband, Sbu Mpisane, a businessman and former Metro police officer, has been implicated in these tax woes as well.
SARS guns for MaMkhize husband Sbu Mpisane
Despite being separated, MaMkhize and Mpisane are still legally married in community of property and reside in the same upscale mansion in La Lucia, Durban, albeit in different wings. The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has issued a writ of execution to Mpisane to seize the movable assets of the house he occupies.

On August 21, the Durban High Court granted SARS permission to attach movable assets from six properties owned by MaMkhize; three in La Lucia and three in Johannesburg. MaMkhize, who owns Thwihli Thwahla and whose real name is Mabong Flora-Junior Mkhize, owes a staggering R12.7 million in taxes.
Royal AM’s Tax Bill
MaMkhize’s football club, Royal AM, has also been hit with a hefty tax bill amounting to R37 million. On October 16, The High Court of South Africa ordered the court’s sheriff to seize and remove Royal AM’s movable property.
The warrant of execution stated that SARS had obtained a judgment against Royal AM on October 16, 2023 for the payment of R37,915,549.77. In addition to this amount, interest would be charged at the applicable rate per annum from November 1, 2023 until the date of payment.
This development follows an incident a few weeks ago when the Royal AM headquarters in Pietermaritzburg – also known as the Royal Ranch – was allegedly burgled. Reports suggest that suspects broke into the clubhouse and stole valuables from the Premier Soccer League side’s players as well as the ladies’ team.
