Mpume Mthombeni, renowned for her role as Agatha Dlamini in Durban Gen, is known for portraying a stern mother and mother-in-law who adheres to traditional values. However, in reality, she is a free-spirited and outgoing individual. She openly shares her life with her wife on Instagram.

Marital Life

 Mpume Mthombeni is blissfully married to Hle Lwandle Mamlungu Mthombeni. The couple tied the knot in December 2018 and have been inseparable ever since. They proudly displayed their wedding rings on Facebook and Instagram, receiving congratulatory messages from fans and family.

Supportive Spouse

 Lwandle might be Mpume’s biggest cheerleader, supporting her work at every opportunity. This includes accompanying her to events and following her professional pages. Lwandle keeps her profession private, choosing to post pictures of her wife and herself. The couple resides in Pinetown, Durban, in KwaZulu Natal.

Acting Career 

Mpume Mthombeni has made a name for herself through her roles in various drama series. She first gained recognition for her role as MaMbhele in Zbondiwe. Her talent did not go unnoticed, and she was subsequently cast as MaXimba in Uzalo on SABC 1. She then portrayed Duduzile in Imbewu the Seed when the drama series premiered. Currently, she is captivating audiences with her role as Agatha or Mam’ Dlamini on Durban Gen, a role that frequently sparks conversation.

Personal Struggles 

In her role as Agatha, she plays the mother to Thabo Dlamini and Sbusiso and the woman who raised Mbali. Despite being a perfect mother to her children, she faces her share of problems and challenges. She is a recovering gambling addict who lost her husband on the operating table. She also lost her younger son in a hostage situation due to a gunshot. After Sbusiso’s death, she had to come to terms with the fact that he left everything to Mbali. She then found a job at the hospital to turn her life around.

Entrepreneurial Endeavors

 In addition to her acting career, Mpume is also a theatre actress and an entrepreneur. She is the co-founder of Empatheatre, where she works as a director alongside Neil Coppen and Dr Dylan McGarry. She gained international recognition when she toured New York, performing Tin Bucket Drum in 2012.
