Given Mahlatse Stuurman, popularly known by his stage name PapiAction, is a renowned actor hailing from South Africa. His acting career, which spans from 2006 to the present, has seen him take on a variety of roles in both television serials and films. Some of his most notable works include “Invictus”, “Straight Outta Benoni”, “Scout’s Safari”, and “Scandal!”.

Early Life and Background

Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Given Stuurman embarked on a journey that would eventually lead him to become one of South Africa’s most recognized faces in the entertainment industry. Despite initially pursuing a career in sound engineering at the Academy of Sound Engineering in Auckland Park, he later decided to follow his passion for acting.

Stuurman’s career took off in the mid-2000s when he became one of the most popular child artists in South Africa. His breakthrough came in 2006 when he was cast as ‘Xolisi ‘Speedy’ Ncebe’ in the television series “Tshisa” aired on SABC1. His performance was well-received, and he continued to play the role until 2012.

In 2011, he took on the role of ‘Medupe’ in the television sitcom “Gauteng Maboneng”. Two years later, in 2009, he joined the cast of the television serial “Scandal!” where he played one of the lead roles of ‘Kgosi’. The series gained immense popularity and aired for more than a decade.


Stuurman made his film debut in 2005 with “Straight Outta Benoni”, where he played the supporting role of ‘Manziman’s brother’. The following year, he appeared in the home movie “König Otto”. In 2009, he starred in the blockbuster “Invictus”, playing a minor role as a ‘Township Kid’. His most recent work includes a regular role in the television serial “Shuga” from 2017 to 2019, where he portrayed the character ‘Reggie’.

Given Mahlatse Stuurman, or PapiAction as he is fondly known, has made significant contributions to the South African entertainment industry.
