Keabetswe ‘KB’ Motsilanyane is a renowned South African artist, celebrated for her multifaceted talents as a singer, songwriter, producer, actress, dancer, and businesswoman. She has gained significant recognition for her performances in popular series such as Backstage, Rhythm City, 7de Laan, and House of Zwide.

Early Life and Educational Background

Born on April 8, 1979, KB was raised in Moruleng, a town in the North West province of South Africa. From a young age, she developed a deep passion for music and the arts. Her early involvement in the music scene began with her joining the legendary South African group, Crowded Crew, which rose to fame in the late 1990s.

Career Highlights

KB embarked on her acting career in 1999, starting with theatre plays. She gained fame through the show Backstage, where she portrayed the character ‘KayBee’. In 2002, she released her debut album, Beautiful Vibrations, which included the hit song ‘O A lla’. This song earned her the nickname Mamosadi.

Over the years, KB has released five additional albums, establishing herself as a prominent and award-winning South African artist. She has performed alongside some of the best local and international artists, including Eve, Sibongile Khumalo, Busta Rhymes, Beyonce, Prime Circle, Ashanti, Dwele, and Brandy.

Following the cancellation of Backstage, KB joined the cast of Rhythm City in 2007, where she played the role of Lucilla Vilakazi until 2015. She then transitioned to 7de Laan, portraying a feisty lawyer named Lesedi. KB has also starred in other series such as Thola, Mtunzini.com, and Ali.

In July 2023, KB joined the cast of House of Zwide, a popular e.tv drama series centered around the fashion industry. She plays Nandipha Khadzi, a lawyer and sister of Alex Khadzi, who was murdered by the Zwide family. KB’s character is determined to uncover the truth behind her brother’s death and seek justice.

KB was previously married to Terry Pinana, with whom she has a son named Phala. The couple separated in 2007. Later, she was engaged to businessperson Nico Matlala, but they ended their relationship in 2016. Currently, KB is single and devotes her time to her career and her son.
