Lunga Mofokeng, born on 12 July 1996, is a prominent South African actor, master of ceremonies (MC), and internet personality. He has gained significant recognition for his portrayal of Andile Dikane, a gay character in the popular television series, The River. In his role, Mofokeng strives to deliver a masterful performance that honors the LGBTQI+ community. Andile Dikane is depicted as a non-flamboyant son of the affluent Dikane family.
Early Life
Born in Katlehong, on the East Rand, Lunga Mofokeng discovered his passion for the performing arts during his high school years. Although he took a brief hiatus from the arts, he eventually returned to his passion and continued to develop his skills.
A pivotal moment in his early life was when a friend introduced him to acting in grade 10. This introduction sparked a journey of exploration and achievement in the field of acting. Mofokeng began participating in contests and consistently finished at the top. His talent was recognized when he won the runner-up for best-performing actor at a school festival.

Education
Lunga Mofokeng completed his high school education in Kahlehong and matriculated in 2015. Following his passion for the performing arts, he pursued a course in acting for camera and live performances at CityVarsity, located at the Braamfontein Campus in Johannesburg.
Career
Lunga Mofokeng’s professional acting career began in earnest in 2015. His talent was discovered by an agency during one of his school plays. During their graduation year, different agents watched their final performance. One agent was particularly impressed with Mofokeng’s acting skills and signed him after he graduated.
In 2017, Mofokeng auditioned at a theatre company and interned there for several months. He attended more auditions and landed a young cameo role in Ring Of Lies. This role paved the way for one of his most significant roles, Andile on The River.
Andile Dikana, the character he portrays, is the son of a top cop, Zweli Dikana. The character’s sexuality and personality caught the attention of many viewers. Andile is gay and is also the most vulnerable member of the family.
Mofokeng’s acting portfolio includes roles such as JoJo in Space Rocks, Frankie in Kaffirs, and Thapelo in Poetry Versus Sketching. His versatility and ability to play distinct roles in any production are highly commendable.
