Early Life and Background

Born in uMbumbulu, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, 29-year-old Msizi Njapha was raised by a single mother who independently brought up five children. His childhood in EThekwini was filled with mischief and play, like most children. His passion for music was evident from a young age, with artists like Brenda Fassie and Joe Mafela influencing his musical taste. This early exposure to music led him to aspire to become a musician.

Education and Early Career

After completing high school, Msizi pursued his passion for the arts by enrolling at the Tshwane University of Technology. He graduated with a degree in Musical Theatre. His talent took him around the world, performing theatre as far as Spain. His portrayal of Boston in Tsotsi the musical earned him his first Fleur Du Cap award for best supporting actor performance.

Msizi Njapha: The Musician and Actor

Known as Msizi World in music circles, Msizi has also made his mark as a musician. He is signed to Arie Records and released his first album, “Breaking Out,” in 2013. His music, often described as vocal house or amapiano, carries profound messages. After his initial success in music, he shifted his focus to acting but recently returned to his musical roots with a new single, “Livumile.”

Msizi has landed several minor roles on TV, including Tyrel in the film Dipuo, Executive in Generation the Legacy, and Boots in High Rollers. His current role is that of Khulekani in Umkhokha. In the show, he portrays the second son of Kwazi Mthembu, the founder of a church called Ithempeli Lenkosi. Despite his character’s reluctance to take over the church after his father’s death, Msizi, a born-again Christian, brings depth to the role. His character, a police officer, yearns for his parents’ attention, having grown up in the shadow of his troublesome older brother.
