Born in Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal, Muzi Mthabela was raised in Clermont and eMandeni. At the age of 12, he reunited with his father after several years of living with his mother. Muzi attributes his father’s valuable life lessons as instrumental in shaping him into the man he is today.

After completing his primary and secondary education, Muzi enrolled at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where he earned a diploma in postproduction and editing. In 1999, he moved to Johannesburg to pursue a career in entertainment.

Muzi is a devout Catholic and has always prioritized attending Sunday Mass, regardless of the circumstances. As a young boy, he aspired to become a Catholic priest, but his passion for show business led him down a different path.

Apart from his role in “Isibaya,” Muzi Mthabela has made guest appearances and recurring roles in several television series, such as “Jacob’s Cross,” “Dream World,” “The Road,” “Sokhulu & Partners,” “Ashes to Ashes,” “Saints and Sinners,” “Loxion Lyric,” and “Tempy Pushas.”

In 2013, he starred in the Lokshin Bioskop film “Thug Huis,” which aired on Mzansi Magic. The film revolves around a successful robbery that leads to mistrust among the gang members. Muzi shares the screen with notable actors such as Khanyi Mbau, Lolo Mphephi, and Siphiwe Mtshali.

In 2017, Muzi took on his first starring role in the drama series “Harvest,” portraying Richard, a mysterious force seeking revenge in a story about three women forced to take over an international drug smuggling business after their husbands were murdered.

He later had a guest starring role in the SABC2 soapie “Muvhango” in 2020, playing the character of Richard.

Currently, Muzi Mthabela is a lead actor in “Generations: The Legacy,” portraying the character Nkosiyabo Cele.

Muzi Mthabela’s talent extends beyond acting and editing. He appeared as a celebrity guest trainer on the reality series “Bootcamp Mzansi” in 2015. He was also featured as a guest on the SABC1 interview show “Zaziwa.”
