Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, better known by his stage name Nasty C, was born on February 11, 1997. He is originally from Diepkloof, a small town in Soweto, Johannesburg. However, he had to relocate to Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal upon the death of his mother when he was just 11 months old. He was raised by his father, David Maviyo Ngcobo, who worked as a human resources manager. His father was not initially supportive of his music career but eventually came around as Nasty C began to make a name for himself in the industry.

Nasty C also has an older brother named Siyabonga Ngcobo, who played a major role in his music career by teaching him how to rap and produce music at the early age of nine.

Nasty C’s mother, Veliswa (also known as Ivy), passed away in a car crash when he was only 11 months old. He dedicated the song “UOK” to her memory and describes her as a “good ancestor.”

Education

Nasty C attended Strelitza Secondary School in Lotus Park, Durban. Despite his passion for music, he also excelled academically and was able to balance both until he graduated from 12th grade. He began rapping at the early age of nine and performed in various shows and competitions while in school.

Musical Career

Nasty C is a prolific rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer from South Africa. His music is primarily in the rap genre and is performed mostly in English with occasional use of his native dialect. He rose to fame with his hit single “Juice Back” and is considered one of the best rappers in South Africa. In 2015, he became the youngest recipient of the Best Freshman award at the South African Hip Hop Awards. He has since performed on major stages both locally and internationally alongside top artists.

Nasty C’s musical journey began at an early age, influenced by his brother’s love for music. By the age of nine, he was already able to rap and produce music. At 15 years old, he released his first mixtape titled “One Kid, A Thousand Coffins” on May 14th, 2012. He followed this up with the release of “Levitating Above My Enemies (L.A.M.E)” on April 4th, 2014. His works were well-received upon their debut and he continued to release hit songs.

Bad Hair (2016)

This is Nasty C’s debut studio album/EP which was released on December 2nd, 2016. The album features four songs including the lead single “Allow” which features American rapper French Montana. The album received several nominations at the BET awards in 2017.

Strings and Blings (2018)

This is Nasty C’s second project which was released on June 6th, 2018. Prior to its release, Nasty C had pre-released two singles that were later included on the album. The album features songs such as “Jungle” and “King” which features American rapper ASAP Ferg. It also includes the highly acclaimed song “Send Me Away (SMA)” which features Rowlene.

Zulu Man With Some Power (TBA)

This is Nasty C’s most recently released album.

Upcoming Album: Zulu Man With Some Power (2020)

Nasty C’s upcoming album, titled “Zulu Man With Some Power,” has generated a lot of buzz and anticipation among his fans. He released the lead single from the album, “God Flow” featuring Crowned Yung, on September 20th, 2019. Nasty C has assured fans that he is putting the finishing touches on the album and plans to release it in 2020.

Nasty C is currently in a relationship with his girlfriend Sammie Heavens, whom he has been dating since 9th grade. He is not shy about showing her off on social media from time to time.
