The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has confirmed the sad news of the passing of Phalaphala FM DJ real name Rofhiwa ‘Rampsie’ Rampfumedzi, . Known for his vibrant personality and passion for sports, Rampsie was a key figure in the station’s daily sports show, Zwa Mitambo.
The management of the Limpopo-based radio station learned about Rampsie’s passing after a brief illness. The SABC expressed their sorrow, stating, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our presenter, Rofhiwa Rampfumedzi, who passed away on Sunday, 7 January 2024, after a short illness.” Rampsie had been a part of Phalaphala FM for several years, initially joining as a music compiler before taking on the role of presenter for Zwa Mitambo, a sports show that aired from 19h00 to 20h00, Mondays to Fridays.

Phalaphala FM DJ has passed away
Rofhiwa’s presence, both on-air and within the station, will be deeply missed. The station expressed their grief, stating, “We all are hurt by Rofhiwa’s passing and wish to send our heartfelt condolences to the family and all the Phalaphala FM listeners.” Madikana Matjila, the Limpopo Combo Business Manager, highlighted Rofhiwa’s passion for sports and his ability to deliver engaging content to sports lovers.
