She believes that recognizing a mistake or a situation that isn’t working and choosing to leave it is not a bad decision. In fact, she ranks her divorce among her top five best decisions, as it allowed her to live her life more fully. Currently, Rami is not married.

Overcoming Trauma

In a candid interview with Anele Mdoda, Rami shared her traumatic experiences of being sexually assaulted as a young girl. She revealed that she was raped on two separate occasions by close family friends between the ages of 6 and 8.

Rami only recently began discussing these traumatic events after writing her memoir, “We Kissed the Sun and Embraced the Moon.” She explained that some of the things she wrote about were so traumatic that she had to leave her house to write. She booked a hotel near her home to write about that chapter, as she didn’t want her children to see her in such an emotional state. Her openness about her experiences is commendable, and it’s refreshing to see a celebrity vocal about issues that affect many South Africans.

Death Hoax

Rami Chuene was the victim of a death hoax when a fan announced on social media that she had passed away. This news gained significant media attention, with many people believing it until Rami confirmed that she was still alive. She humorously remarked that she was only active because both Heaven and Hell had turned her away.


Rami Chuene is not just a talented actress but also a generous philanthropist. She visited Boiketlo Primary School in Limpopo, where learners received brand new school shoes. She aims to distribute shoes to 20,000 children. Additionally, she works with another school in the Vaal, where she helps raise money to buy uniforms for children.
