Sivenathi Mabuya, professionally known as Sive Mabuya, is a South African actress, model, MC, television presenter, and brand ambassador. She has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry with her diverse talents and compelling performances, most notably as Xolile Langa in the popular television series “Scandal!”.

Early Life and Education

Sive Mabuya’s journey began in Cape Town, where she was born. She spent her formative years in East London, raised alongside three siblings by her parents. Her passion for the performing arts was evident early on, as she excelled in stage and acting during her high school years. This passion led her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre. Her acting career, which began in church and school, eventually became a full-time profession when she relocated to Johannesburg in 2013.

Career Milestones

Sive Mabuya’s career took a significant leap in February 2015 when she emerged as the winner of the MAQamovie competition for amateur actors, sponsored by a washing powder brand. This victory paved the way for her feature in the film “Skorokoro,” directed by Darrell Roodt. The competition’s judges, including Shona Ferguson, Sdumo Mtshali, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Roodt, were impressed by her talent. As a result of her win, she also had a cameo role in Shona Ferguson’s series “Igazi”.

In December 2015, Sive made her debut on the silver screen in the M-Net Original Film “The Ring,” produced by M-Net’s Magic in Motion Academy interns. The film, a comedy set in a hotel, also starred Kenneth Nkosi, Mac Leshomo, Sana Mchunu, Cedric Fourie, and Ntando Mncube.

In early 2016, Sive appeared in the feature-length film “The Lucky Specials,” produced by Discovery Learning Alliance and Quizzical Pictures. The film aimed to demystify tuberculosis and featured other talented actors such as Blondie Makhene, Oros Mampofu, Richard Lukunku, Thomas Gumede, and Fulu Mugovhani.

In July 2016, Sive joined the cast of the dark comedy-drama series “Sober Companion,” taking on the recurring role of Faith. The show followed Trevor Gumbi as he guided various addicts on the journey to rehabilitation while struggling with his own sobriety. Later that year, in September, Sive made her first appearance as AJ in the soapie “High Rollers,” marking her first starring role on television.

In 2017, Sive landed a role on the e.tv soapie “Scandal!”, portraying the character Xolile. And, in 2023, Sive Mabuya joined the cast of “Smoke And Mirrors,” taking on the role of Nkosazana, the royal chief princess of KwaBhaca, further diversifying her repertoire.

In her personal life, Sive Mabuya is happily married. In 2022, she tied the knot with her longtime friend and love, Aphiwe Bukani, in a captivating Xhosa-inspired wedding ceremony. This milestone marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life, one filled with love and companionship.
