Educational Background

Born in Krugersdorp, Mogale City, located in the West Rand of Johannesburg, Thato Dithebe pursued his high school education at Hoërskool Noordheuwel. He was an exceptional student, earning six distinctions in his matric exams in 2018. He furthered his education at the University of Witswatersrand, graduating in 2021 with a BSc in Civil Engineering.

Career Journey

Thato’s acting career began at the tender age of eight, with appearances in commercials and shows like Soul Buddyz and Rhythm City. His passion for dancing also emerged early, leading him to participate in various events and competitions.

His charisma and positive attitude won the hearts of young viewers when he became a presenter on YoTV. Known as “President Thato” on the show, he interviewed celebrities, performed musical numbers, and balanced his studies with his television career, hosting YoTV Live on SABC 1 from 2015 to 2021.

In 2021, he joined the cast of “House of Zwide”, a drama series about the fashion industry airing on e.tv. His role as Neo, a young designer mentored by the legendary Isaac Zwide, earned him positive reviews and a fan following.

In 2023, he secured a role in “Kokota Piano”, a new drama series on Mzansi Magic that highlights the amapiano genre and culture. He portrays Tshepang, a talented producer navigating the music industry. For this role, he also learned to play the piano.

Beyond acting and presenting, Thato Dithebe is a passionate dancer, skilled in various styles such as hip-hop, contemporary, and ballet. He has performed at numerous events and competitions and has choreographed routines for himself and others.

Accolades

Thato’s work has been recognized with several awards, including the Best Presenter award at the 6th Annual Royalty Soapie Awards in 2023.
