Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo Biography

Thembisa Liyema Mdoda, known professionally as Thembisa Nxumalo, was born on November 16, 1982, in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa. She holds South African citizenship. Her educational journey led her to the University of the Witwatersrand, where she obtained a degree in Graphic Design.

Career

Thembisa’s career began as a newsreader on Wits radio. She later left this position to work for Highveld After Dark. Her career took a significant turn in November 2015 when she landed the role of hosting the sixth season of the reality television show “Our Perfect Wedding.”

In the same year, she portrayed the role of Thabisile Cebekhulu on “The Road,” a Mzansi Magic telenovela. Thembisa’s versatility was further showcased when she contested on “Dancing with the Stars SA” in December 2017.

In early February 2018, she bagged a role on hosting “Your Next Million,” a television game show. The following month, Mdoda joined Metro FM to host the “Weekend Breakfast Show” with Mo G.

In February 2022, she landed the role of portraying Nikiwe Ndlovu on “House of Zwide.” In June 2022, she landed a role as the host of “Umndende,” which is set to premiere on July 23, 2022. She also bagged a role on hosting “Suxoka” in the same month.

Thembisa’s filmography is diverse, ranging from TV series to films. In 2015, she co-hosted “Our Perfect Wedding.” In 2018, she hosted “Your Next Million” and played the role of Thembi in “Unmarried.” In 2021, she temporarily replaced Zandile Msutwana as Vuyiswa Jola-Maake in “The Queen.” In 2022, she played Nikiwe Ndlovu in “House of Zwide.”

Personal Life

Thembisa first met Atandwa Kani in 2004 while attending the University of the Witwatersrand. The couple got married in August 2012 and divorced in 2015. She is currently married to Eric Nxumalo since 2020.

Thembisa has been recognized for her work in the entertainment industry. In 2017, she won the Ultimate Viewers’ Choice Award and the Best TV Presenter award at the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards. She also won the Most Stylish Performing Artist award at the 2017 South African Style Awards.
