Busisiwe Mkhwebane, the impeached former public protector and new member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), recently shared details about her interactions with former president Jacob Zuma during an EFF podcast. Jacob Zuma must join EFF, says Mkhwebane in podcast
Initial Meetings and Impressions
Mkhwebane recounted her initial meetings with Zuma, which began with a meet-and-greet when she introduced herself as the public protector. Following this, they had one or two additional meetings. She expressed her dismay when Zuma was incarcerated, criticizing the media for portraying him as a villain.
Criticism of Zuma’s Incarceration
Mkhwebane voiced her concerns about the circumstances surrounding Zuma’s imprisonment. She found it distressing that he was jailed without being formally charged or given the opportunity to plead guilty or not guilty. In her view, this treatment was unjust and should not be allowed to happen.
Call for Jacob Zuma to Join EFF
Despite these challenges, Mkhwebane encouraged Zuma to join the EFF. However, she acknowledged that doing so could potentially lead to him losing the benefits he currently receives as a former president.
