Early Life and Education
Lidzhegu’s journey into the world of acting began with his love for John Kani’s books. Inspired by Kani’s career, Lidzhegu decided to follow in his idol’s footsteps. Despite holding a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, the allure of acting proved irresistible for him.
Breakthrough in Acting
Lidzhegu’s big break came when he was just 16 years old. He auditioned for Muvhango while in grade 12 and was eventually selected for the show. After being called for a second audition, he attended several workshops to hone his acting skills.
Role in Muvhango
In Muvhango, Lidzhegu plays the role of Vhutshilo, a mischievous and spoiled young man with no morals, respect, or boundaries. His character is known for his reckless behavior, often going after what he wants without considering the consequences.
Vhutshilo quickly became a fan-favorite character on the show, especially after he started dating his boss, Gugu, played by Bukamina Cebekhulu. His character also caused a stir when he attempted to kill his father, Azwindini (played by Gabriel Temudzani), upon discovering that they were dating the same woman.
Despite his convincing portrayal of Vhutshilo, Lidzhegu had no prior acting experience. This role in Muvhango marks his acting debut. His performance is so compelling that viewers often confuse him with his on-screen character.
Like many young people, Lidzhegu admits to having been influenced by bad company at some point in his life. He went through a period of problematic behavior, associating with toxic friends who often got into trouble and encouraged him to join them.
Lidzhegu credits his parents, Dr. Muvhoni Edward Lidzhegu and Rudzani Virginia Nkhumeleni, for not giving up on him during his troubled times. They encouraged him to participate in church activities and focus on his studies, providing the support he needed to overcome his challenges and pursue his dreams.
